ABOUT ME
ARTIST BIO
Cecelia Wright is an artist based in Nazareth, Pennsylvania with her AA in Communication Design from Northampton Community College and her BFA from Cedar Crest College. Wright’s background in graphic design influences her work – from the use of digital programs throughout the creation process to a keen attention to detail in her compositions. Through a variety of painting and mixed media constructions, Wright creates abstract spaces driven by creating a sense of movement and depth.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Movement, depth, and the interaction of color and texture drive my artwork. I explore relationships between structured and organic elements in my pieces by combining a minimalistic design sensibility while manipulating materials and found objects to create duality or tension in the work. Textures of fruit and flowers and the structures of wheels, buildings, and other industrial elements influence my practice.
Each piece is some variation of painting, digital design, and mixed media constructions. My reaction to materials and subject matter are interdependent of each other; working in harmony to accomplish my goal of creating a duality of organic and structural elements. I wish to engage my audience by taking them on a journey through my composition, drawing them deeper into the layers of materials used in my work.
